Raila Odinga: An Enigma in Kenyan Politics by Babafemi A. Badejo was launched July 13, 2006. The launching took place at Nu-Metro Media Stores.
A panel chaired by Prof. Wanyande and involving a
reviewer in the person of Julian Fisher reviewed the
book. It was discussed by three discussants: Dr. Adams
Oloo; Dr. Jaqueline Oduol and Professor Michael Chege.
They all concluded that in spite of areas in whcih
they felt the book could be strengthened in a later
edition, it was an important addition to Kenya's
history and knowledge on Raila Odinga. They saw the
book as a challenge to many to come up with additional
biographies.
The almost 300 people in the movie theatre proceeded
to the foyer of Nu-Metro to join an additional crowd
of over 500 people that listened to a Keynote address
by Dr. Tom Namwamba on: Who is Raila?
This was followed by a speech of appreciation of the
book by Hon Kalonzo Musyoka on behalf of friends of
Raila.
Raila in making a vote of thanks went into details in
setting out his vision for Kenya.
Below is a link that leads to the book's review from Dr. Julian Fisher and photos from the event. Other presentation beyond that of the reviewer will be
posted as they become available.
